Bathurst Goldfields, the iconic heritage tourism property nestled at the base of Mount Panorama, has officially entered a new chapter, with family duo Steve and Sue Pearce, stepping in as proud new owners as of the 10th of March this year.
Hailing from the Adelaide Hills in South Australia, Steve and Sue bring with them a shared love for property, people, and breathing new life into spaces rich with history. While this is their first tourism-focused venture, it's a natural next step for the mother and son team, with Steve’s extensive background in events and tourism, and Sue’s long-standing passion for interior design through their family renovation projects.

“We feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to carry on the legacy of a place like Bathurst Goldfields,” said Steve.
“There’s a real sense of pride, community, and heart here - and we’re excited to build on what’s already working so beautifully.”
As part of this new chapter, the site has also adopted a refreshed name, now known as Bathurst Goldfields Resort. The change is subtle, but intentional: a way to better reflect the breadth and calibre of what’s on offer.
From immersive school camps and weekend stays to weddings and large-scale events, the updated name captures the full experience, especially as renovations and upgrades continue to elevate the property’s offering.
The Bathurst Goldfields team, known for delivering high-quality educational programs, events, and weekend stays, will remain in place, with Steve and Sue focused on supporting and growing the business rather than reinventing it. One of their key priorities is enhancing the property’s event and wedding offerings.
With a backdrop of tall gums, heritage buildings, and sweeping country views, Bathurst Goldfields is already a sought-after venue. Steve and Sue are keen to elevate the event experience even further, blending rustic charm with personalised touches, and ensuring couples and organisers feel supported every step of the way.
“This isn’t about starting over,” Sue added. “It’s about building on something already special. We want every guest to feel the warmth and character of this place, while also enjoying the added comfort that comes from thoughtful updates and refreshed spaces. Just as importantly, we want our team to love where they work. When people feel proud and supported, that care naturally flows through to every guest experience.”
With a strong emphasis on warm country hospitality, community connection, and honouring the land’s rich heritage, Bathurst Goldfields under new ownership will continue to serve as a place where stories are shared, people feel at home, and history lives and breathes.
Over the past few months, the new owners have already started working closely with the existing team to identify thoughtful improvements across the property, including renovations to onsite accommodation, new outdoor gathering spaces and revitalised event spaces, and a renewed focus on natural beauty and guest comfort.
While renovations are underway and expected to be completed by late this year, it’s business as usual at Bathurst Goldfields and the same long-standing team are ready to welcome guests.
